Forte de Marmi

Recommendations of where to stay in forte de marmi in August 2027 ? Is car required or is train from Milan doable?

The train trip via Florence is less than 5 hours and 1 change, doable or not is up to you. Fashionistas teens from Milan can do it any given Friday in Summer. In late May, You'll easily look up the august schedules on www.trenitalia.com/en.html

Since the train station that serves Forte dei Marmi is 2.5 miles away from the seaside, in Querceta, I'd check if there are buses from Florence that actually call at Forte dei Marmi.

If you get some good changes it's 4-4.5 hours with the fast train to Florence. Weirdly the trips with 2 changes seem to be faster than the 1 change trips so whether 30 minutes is worth 1 less change is up to you.

The station is Forte Dei Marmi-Seravezza-Querceta serves 3 places so it's a ways away from the beach. I would probably take a cab or there is the 35 bus that runs around town and down the beachfront - assuming you're staying by the beach.

There are tons of places since it is a resort area. I haven't stayed there so recommendations but given it's August at the coast I would reserve as early as possible.

Pietrasanta nearby is worth a part day as an arty little town if you're interested.

Have a great trip,

A car would be useful as Forte is not big and parking is not hard. Do you have flight tickets yet? Returning a rental car to Pisa airport is straightforward and you could fly out from there.

I used to spend my summers at the "Forte", we used to rent apartments with my friends. Never in August, however (usually July) as August is expensive and also apartments are hard to find.
We used to have motorcycles, but there are a couple of bus lines that you can use from the station to the city center near the beach. In August there are also taxicabs parked in front of the station.
If you just want to stay in town and enjoy the beach, a car is not needed. Actually many streets in the city center are pedestrian only, at least in the evenings (much like Miami beach) and you will probably leave the car at your accommodations. Just find a spot that is walking distance from the city center and the beach. The place at night is jam packed with foot traffic in summer. The core of the town is the Fortino (little Fort) on Piazza Garibaldi and all adjacent streets, like Via Spinetti. All the fancy stores are in that area as well. The Lungomare (basically Viale Italico and Viale della Repubblica) near the Pontile are popular spots as well.
If you want to take day trips to places requiring a car (like the marble quarries), then a car might be useful, but otherwise I wouldn't bother.
