Help! Am in Atlanta airport, forgot my Italy 2015 at home (in the car of course) Headed out for my RS tour. Anyone know where in Venice I can find a bookstore that may have one? Hope they don't boot me off the bus for this! Thanks also for all the assistance you have given me the past year. Couldn't have done it without all of you! Grazie!
Being on a RS tour, I think you can do without the book. We received maps of most of the major cities that we visited and the guide provided us with recommendations on where to eat am what to see on our free time. A lot of the hotels had copies of his guidebook in the lobby and I am sure your tour mates will share their copy with you. There is too much to see in Venice to spend you time looking for a bookstore that carries his book. If you have a smart phone you can always download a copy electronically from one of the major book sites.
Am on a My Way tour so was relying on the book for valuable advise. Do have copies of my itineraries in each city - no smart phone.
We've noticed that most hotels that will be on your tour have the current book, sometimes out with other books guests have left for others to read. Don't worry! Have fun!!!
You don't get kicked off the RS bus. You do have to do sink laundry for other tour members. It's in the fine print.
Kindle edition available on Amazon.com. $13.85
On my tour I gave my book to another traveler to use, she forgot hers too. I didn't need it at all.
Yes, you can borrow one from someone else on the tour, copy (or photo) the pages you might need.
Here are a couple:
Wellington Books

An English bookstore on the Calle della Mandola,
and,
Libreria Acqua Alta

Calle Lunga Santa Maria Formosa
Acqua Alta is also a tourist destination. They say a place not to be missed while in Venice.
If you're travelling with a Laptop, Netbook or tablet it will be easy to download the Kindle or iBooks version. If you do find a bookstore in Venice that has the guidebook in stock, it will likely not be the most current edition.
Yes, Gordon is right that Aqua Alta is a tourist destination in Venice. Don't let it dampen your spirits if it's not up to your expectations. Wade right in.
Many hotels used by RS Tours have a collection of used guidebooks sitting on a table or in a small library area. Most are left by tour members who don't need to carry them anymore.
Pick one up and use it while you're in Venice and leave it for the next guest.
Don't worry...Enjoy the vacation.
