Has anyone stayed here in Venice, and if so, what are the rooms and breakfasts like?
I will be taking a small group in March and need something affordable but comfortable and safe. Thanks!

I stayed there in April 2007 and loved it. It was just me, so I took a place in the hostel/dorm area.
The room was a regular dorm-type room with 4 bunk beds and a church-type fresco on the ceiling. Location was fabulous too. The clincher for me was the balcony with a canal view and the occasional passing gondolier.
The breakfast was pretty normal: serve-yourself cereal, OJ, milk, toast, yogurt, etc.
The only thing I would caution you about is that there were a lot of school/youth groups there when I was there. They were quiet at night, but breakfasts, late afternoons, and evenings can be a bit noisy. Try to get a room on a different floor than the dining area and you should be fine, though. (I didn't have any morning noise issues)
I didn't have to deal with church functions (I was there Tue-Thu), but remember that it is a working church.
I have a few pictures of the ceiling fresco and the views out the balcony on my photo site. PM me if you want the link.
Thank you, that is great. The group I will be taking is actually high school age (!), so they will fit right in and won't feel too uncomfortable. The only other choices, aside from expensive hotels, are apartments to rent, but these spaces are filled with nice Venetian-style furniture, etc., and, though I will be careful about the students I bring, I don't want to put them in a fragile environment.
The one downside is that there are no kitchen facilities, I gather, in case we wanted to throw something together ourselves to save some Euros.
Were there any sofas or chairs of any kind in the room (for us older folks to collapse on?) Thanks!
Hi Cheryl
2 friends and I stayed at the Foresteria a couple of summers ago for 4 nights. Our room had 3 single beds, 2 up in the loft and 1 down next to our private bathroom. The room was clean, the mattress was very firm and there was 1 desk chair but no easy chair. I think there were a few more comfortable chairs near the sign-in desk.
Everyone working there was really nice. Our first morning we all overslept and rushed down to breakfast 10 minutes late, but the lady working there still greeted us with a smile and made us our cappuchinos!
The location is down a small calle (alley) very close to the Accademia Bridge so it's easy to find even late at night!
Have a wonderful trip!
