? For Canadians

Are there any Canadians here who are going to Italy in the next few weeks, or are just back?

I'm finding it very difficult to pin down the current rules about flying from Canada to Italy, changing planes in Germany (not staying, flying onward) and coming home again the same way, as far as Covid rules go.
I do realise that things are always changing, daily it seems.

Just trying to get a sense of how difficult it is to get there and back.
Thank you!

Hi,
I’m Canadian (Vancouverite) with a confirmed Air Canada ticket to Rome in mid -April. The ticket itself gives all the up to date info (clickable links) on entry and return requirements (testing, documents etc) and it includes the requirements for your stop in Frankfurt or other European stop if you don’t have a direct flight from Canada. I’m sure the info attached to your purchased ticket will be totally up to date.
It looks like Italy is ending its Covid state of emergency March 31, so things may change by April.

I'm not planning to go until late September: but I hope to hear your experiences when you return, of how the to and fro to Italy trips transpired.

Someone needs to be the guinea pig. Let us know what happens. From what I understand from friends, getting home is more challenging, but the ArrivCan app is helpful.

We from Alberta, Canada are booked to go in June. Hoping all goes well. Will be watching for fellow Canadians letting us know how you all made out. Good luck and happy holidays !

We are planning a trip to Italy in early May. Flying direct Montreal-Venice-Montreal. I would certainly love to hear from anyone with good tips on Covid restrictions…although March 31st may change everything, right? Does anyone know how we get a “green pass”?

I’m helping my sister plan her trip for mid March. What I have gleaned so far is that the PCR test has to be done less than 72 hours before arrival in Italy (which is different from many other countries where it is 72 hrs or less before scheduled departure time of flight). She is flying via Paris on AF. Canada requires the PCR to be done within 72 hrs of departure from flight that arrives in Canada, an important detail if connecting.

Italy seems to accept our Government of Canada vaccine print out in its paper copy. So she will have paper copies of it.
