If you like seafood, Alle Testiere is a good choice in Venice. We could not get in, but my sister ate there and said it was wonderful. Make reservations well in advance.

For a take-out lunch in Milan, I would go to Princi for their focaccia sandwiches. We bought them for a light supper before going to La Scala. They were so good we returned there the next morning to get breakfast and buy sandwiches for the train.

For Venice, I second Alle Testiere. The seafood is fresh and they take pride in what they serve. The desserts were good too. It's very tiny, so reservations are essential- they have two sittings for dinner.

in Venice, a Muranese friend recommended Tratttoria da Remigio and we were delighted to find it full of Venetians. We also like to do a cichetti meal or pub crawl each visit. This time we discovered Ciurma for cichetti and also really enjoyed Rosa Rossa for dinner thanks to recommendations on the HelpLine.

In Milan, I like Mamma Rosa on P.zza Cincinnato, not too far from Milano Centrale. Also had fine pizza at Ristorante Pizzeria Sabatini. Both are served well by transportation.

In the Cinque Terre we gravitate to Trattoria da Billy in Manarola and Il Pirata in Vernazza. I think my husband would take the train from Rome just to eat at Billy's.

Venice we just walked around looking at menu and stopped in places. Don't remember names.

My favorite meal was at Belforte in Vernazza. Definately eat there. We had trofi pasta with pesto, the best mussels I ever ate, a seafood mix plate and the a salt crusted fish

As for Vernazza, we dined a couple of times at La Torre, as we were staying in a little (La Torre) studio just above the restaurant-very handy when we arrived after a long day, and a long trek up the hill! La Torre's food was good, not off the charts amazing but there is a nice vibe to the place-time it right for the sunset, and bring a small flashlight for the walk back down. We did not go to Belforte, I know the views are good there too, but if I'm not mistaken it's in a completely different-higher-price class.
