Were going on May 10 2012 to Florence and Rome and wondered about some favorite places for pizza and pastries. Thank you.

In Rome we really like Dar Poeta in Trastevere for pizza. We also found perfectly decent pizza at several little neighborhood places, but stay away from main tourist routes and piazze (squares), and never eat where someone is in the street begging you to come in. If they are good, they don't have to have "hawkers". Similarly with pastries, just look in the windows, in the cases. If it looks good. it probably is. :-) Just don't sit down at a table if you don't want to pay the higher price.
