Food and Transport recommendations needed for visiting Rome in March...

1) Recommendations for private transport service for FCO to Trastavere and perhaps a few day/side trips?

2) Really good and authentic eateries, coffee places, bakeries, wine bars in Trastavere district?

Thanks.

It is pretty easy and very efficient to simply go to the taxi rank at the airport and get a taxi there. You don't have to worry about meeting someone at a particular time. As soon as you are ready, they are ready.......

Trastavere has maybe the best restaurants in the city in close proximity. Ask your hotel desk clerk what he recommends. Or you could take a Foodie Tour and find out that way.

A lot of people will book transportation wtih Roma Cabs. Or just catch a cab there. It's not really that far from the airport into the center city, but a cab sure beats hauling luggage on and off the Leonardo Express and onto a bus or Underground.

Trastavere is a little off the beaten path for public transportation. You can walk out to where you can pickup a bus line. I've found that getting around Rome is best done by bus.

What day trips? We found it very easy to day trip to Naples on the fast train while staying in Trastavere last month.

We also did a food tour of the area with Eating Europe. Highly recommend it. We loved that part of town The food tour told us history of the places and we had a lot of very good food.
