My grandparents were born in Foggia and so on our trip to Rome and southern Italy next September, we were thinking of going there. Our plan is 6 days in Rome, Sorrento and the Amalfi coast, Capri, Pompeii and then over to the east side and Foggia before returning to Rome. Open ended time frame after Rome, but about 16 days total. Thanks!

Haven't visited Foggia yet, but are your grandparents from the city of Foggia, or the province of Foggia (which contains many cities)? I ask because my father was from Benevento province, but was actually born in San Giovanni in Ceppaloni, a "frazione" of one of the smaller towns of Benevento province. I imagine you want to get to their original birthplace.
