Pay careful attention to the luggage allowances and additional fees they may tack on. Anything over a few kilos of carry-on on many discount carriers and you have to check luggage, that's extra; pick up a boarding pass at the airport instead of printing ahead of time, thats extra; pay the extra weight fee for luggage at the airport instead of online ahead of time, thats extra. And so on.
