Im unfamiliar with arranging air travel once we have landed in Italy to travel to London. Any tips please ?
I think you have to be a bit more specific.
Let us know:
When?
From where do you plan to leave Italy to fly to London?
Which London airport do you want?
What is your general itinerary plan?
I don't understand the question. You would book your flight the same way you would book any flight.
OR go online to Google flights. Input your date. Choose the flight you want from the available options. Go to that airline's website to make your booking.
If you have questions about getting from Venice to the airport for early morning flights, come back and ask.
We will be flying out of Venice to London. To minimize stress should we fly into London City Airport or Heathrow ? Concerned about transportation from the airports and ultimately the cost of flights ? Can we get better rates if we go to the city airport ?
LCY is the better airport for transportation, but the cost of the flights is that bit higher, normally due to restricted aircraft size at LCY.
But really choose the time that suits you, then the fare (if price sensitive), then worry about transportation. That latter issue is good from all London airports.
Where are you staying in London?
Start by looking at Google Flights and Skyscanner to see what’s available.
Have a look at EasyJet, Ryanair and Jet2 as well.
However, be sure to book the flights you choose directly with the airline you will fly with.
Don’t try to save a few $ by using a third party reseller such as Expedia, Cheapoair, etc.
I hope you have done, or will do, this with all your flights.

I’d start by looking at all flights between Venice and London on a site like googleflights. Use the code “LON” to include all the London airports in your search. I’d narrow it down to the ones with the best combination of flight time and price and then decide on which airport. Some of the flights are operated by discount carriers. Make sure you take into account all fees when you are comparing flights. When you go to book, go sirectly to the airline website.
It doesn’t look like there are actually any flights from Venice to London City. I’d probably choose a flight on BA to Heathrow or easyJet to Gatwick depending on the price and time.
I would add for consideration: are you flying to London for a stay there or for another air connection? If you are looking to make a connection, check the flights directly to that airport. You may want to go to the Marco Polo airport website and take a look through departing flights to get a picture of what airlines fly out, to where, and when.

If I'm understanding your question, why are you waiting to arrange a flight to London once you've arrived in Italy?
Also, after reading some of your other posts, I'm wondering if you've traveled abroad before. Just checking because some of your questions lead me to think maybe you have not. I'm also concerned that your trip is only a month away. I feel some of your concerns should have been ironed out long before now.
Can we get better rates if we go to the city airport ?
To some extent the date you want to fly will affect the rate. You need to do the research, as only you know the date.
Are you flying to London to be there for a number of days, or to get another flight?
