First wanted to say thanks for all the advice I have rec'd here. Now I need advice on where to stay the nite before our 10:00 am flight. We will be arriving in Venice the day before and want to explore Venice. 2 adults and one tween. Should we stay closer to the airport? Thanks for your advice. Mo
Yeah, something must be wrong here. Did you mean to say you're flying out of Venice?
You'll find great advice from the well-known & trustworthy Ron in Rome here: http://tinyurl.com/3jr3b8z
It is pretty dull and expensive around the airport. Is your flight a direct international or a connecting flight (domestic) to your flight home? Makes a big difference. With a 10 AM departure (assuming domestic) you could easily stay in Rome and take a shared shuttle from your hotel around 7AM and be in good shape.
If I am reading this correctly, you will arrive in Venice the day before, tour Venice and then take the train to Rome????
sorry guys, my mistake...(forget I said Rome)...we are flying out of Venice. Wondering if it would just be easier to stay in Pordenone (and do a day trip to Venice a few days before) and leave Pordenone early in the am (flight leaves 10:30 am out of Venice) and take the train directly to the airport? Any advice will be appreciated!
Thanks
Am I understanding you correctly by saying that you arrive in Venice on an evening and have that evening, the entire next day and fly out at 10:30 a.m the following day? If I have it right, you should absolutely stay in Venice proper. You have plenty of time on the morning of your departure to get to the airport. When are your travelling?
Maureen, I'm pretty sure you can edit an existing topic and change that Rome to Venice, to avoid future confusion. As to your question, stay in Venice proper. A 10 a.m. flight is easy to catch from Venice and it's really hard to do justice to Venice with just a daytrip. The people who don't like Venice tend to be the ones who just daytripped in.
10:30am, you have plenty of time to get to the airport at say, 9, using the #5 Marco Polo bus or the Ferry Shuttle.
