Flying into Milan-Malpensa (MPX) going to Cinque Terre

Looking for a way to cut down on expenses. I’m currently booked to fly into Rome, then take trains to Manarola.
I was just poking around and I could save a couple of hundred dollars flying into Milan-Malpensa, as well as saving money on a hotel in Rome for the night before I leave to come back to New York.

Does anybody know how difficult it would be to get a train from MPX to Manarola? I will be traveling solo so it needs to be easy thank you in advance.

Compare the times and routing coming from Rome v Milan on the Trenitalia website. It may be easier, may be pretty much the same.

Go to www.trenitalia.com/en to see train schedule Malpensa Aeroporto to Manarola. Off hand, I'd say it will look like Malpensa Express train to Milano Centra, then an IC train to Monterosso, then a regional train to Manarola. It is about 5 hours.

Train from Milan Malpensa to Manarola requires at least 2 changes (3 separate trains) and takes a bit less than 5 hours.
Train from Rome Fiumicino airport to Manarola requires at least 2 changes (3 separate trains) and takes at least about 5 hours.

So it appears that both Rome airport and Milan Malpensa airport are similarly distant from Manarola, at least in terms of train travel time (in terms of miles, Milan Malpensa is at least 80 miles closer to Manarola than Rome).

So choose the flight that best fits your budget or convenience needs.
