The end of our trip will be spending 2-3 nights in Sorrento and then booked a flight out of Naples so that means will have to spend the night in Naples as flight home is early....is this town dangerous? Should I change my flight out from Rome? This is my first trip so I am not sure what to do....the reason I booked it this way was that Naples is closer than Rome and thought it would make more sense? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

We flew out of Naples and had no problems. Caught the airport bus from outside the train station. If you stay near the city center and tourist areas, you'll be fine. Just pay attention to your surroundings and wear a security pouch or keep your purse with you at all times. Don't go through the hassle of changing airports, it truly wasn't that bad. Yes, it looks a little (a lot) more "rough" than Rome, and it will be a big change from Sorrento, but there is a ton of history in Naples. Be sure to get some pizza while you're there!

It's not dangerous, just dirty, and now really trashy. (Although there are some neighborhoods that are dangerous, you would have to go out of your way to get there.)
You'll be fine.
