I understand that Pisa is the closest airport to the CT and Firenze and genoa are other options. Obviously depends on flight time but for a late am or early afternoon flight is it feasible to leave the CT in the am and hop on a train to make it to the airport ?
yes why not Pisa seems best. but none of those airports have flights to cities in the usa if that is what you are trying to do.
Milan MXP is closest airport with flights to USA..
I suspect that when all is said and done it won't work. Most airlines recommend that you get to the airport 3 hours before your transatlantic flight departs. To that you must add the train time from the Cinque Terre to Milan or, alternatively, the train time to Pisa plus check-in and flight time for the leg that takes you from Pisa to a place where you can pick up a flight to the US. And you'd need to allow a bit of a buffer for traveling to at least the first airport, because missing the transatlantic flight would be a very costly problem.
According to skyscanner.com, there are no non-stop flights between Pisa and Milan or between Florence and Milan, so hopping Pisa/Florence-Milan-USA is not an option.
Pisa has flights going to major flight hubs like Rome, Munich, Frankfurt, Amsterdam and London. With an early morning train to Pisa, it should be easy to get there in time for an early or mid-afternoon flight. And since it would be a "domestic" flight, no need to get there more than a couple of hours before the flight.

Cinque Terre are half way between Pisa and Genoa. You could travel to either in less than two hours by train+airport transfer (people mover in Pisa, shuttle bus or taxi in Genoa).
Neither airport has flights to the US, but both have flights to main European hub airports from where you can fly to the US. The problem is that most US bound flights leave in the mid/late morning and in order to catch those flights to the US you need to catch the first flight out to those hubs, which usually depart from either GOA or PSA at around 7am, if not earlier. That means that you need to be at either PSA or GOA airports before 6am and that makes it difficult, because you would need to leave from the Cinque Terre before trains start to operate.
There is a 105 out of pisa on Lufthansa. Connects through Munich and gets into Boston at 635 pm
