Flying from Naples to Rome to USA

If I'm flying from Naples via Alitalia airlines to Rome then on to USA, how much time should I allow prior to departure in Naples? Is 1 hour enough? Not sure if I"ll have to go through all the international flight lines (which take more time) in Naples or in Rome? Please advise.

Consider taking the fast train to Roma instead of flying - it's only 1.25 hours, plus one hour maximum to FCO. Less time than waiting in security lines, retrieving luggage, etc.

Keep in mind that the airport in Rome (FCO) just hade a huge fire and it's affecting all airline operations. I echo the previous poster who recommended the express train. I've taken it several times between Naples and Rome and it works great. If you do choose to fly from Naples to Rome, I'd arrive at Capodichino airport two hours early. It's a small airport and tends to be rather chaotic, even by Italian standards. From Naples to Rome the flight will be treated as a domestic flight. When you get to Rome you will transition from the Schengen area to a non-Schengen area and will go thru security and passport control.

Thank you both for the responses. Great tips on taking train instead although we already booked our flight but helpful for next trip. We aren't going until Oct so hopefully the chaos from the fire at Rome airport will be somewhat resolved by the time we get there. I appreciate knowing I need to arrive 2 hrs prior to flite in Naples. Thank you again!
