Flying from Milan to London

Newbie European traveler here. Am doing a Rick Steve's Italy tour in a couple of months and then following that up with some travels on our own. We plan on flying from Milan to London as part of our travels. How far in advance do you recommend I should purchase those tickets? Any tips on intra Euro plane travel?

We use Google flights to determine the options available and then purchase the tickets directly from the airline.

Only you can decide when to purchase the tickets. Like any other ticket, find the one that works with your schedule and at a price you like.

We don't watch for price changes. We just purchase tickets when we have definite plans, so that we're sure we have seats.

We find traveling by plane in Europe is no different than flying within the US.

Enjoy your travels.

There is no set rule on how far in advance to purchase tickets for any destination. Although buying at the last minute rarely brings better prices. For an intra European flight you should consider buying at least a couple of months in advance to get optimal prices, but there is no certainty on when the best prices might be.
I don’t know what type of tips you need. Just to let you know the UK is outside the Schengen area, therefore to fly there from Milan you will need to go through passport control both in Milan and London. Show up at the airport at least 90 min prior to departure.

Easy Jet flys to London. That is the airline to use.
The earliest you buy the lower the price.
You just have to read and follow their baggage allowance rules and no problem

I am looking to book tickets from London to Spain for January 2023, so book anytime that suits you. Most airlines have dynamic pricing, so prices will increase over time.

Pay attention to the baggage limits, as these are strictly enforced and each airline has different limits. The cheapest fares are non-flexible. Fares will be more expensive during school holidays, Friday and Sunday evenings and Monday mornings.

London has several airports - London City, Gatwick, Heathrow and Stansted are the most convenient.

Budget carriers i.e., Easyjet which I’ve flown from London to Milan’s Linate are cheaper the earlier you buy but not true with flagship carriers (British Airways is one). Sometimes I prefer the flagship carrier over the budget carrier because the carry-on restrictions aren’t as severe as the low-cost carriers.

Look at British Airways. They were offering some good pricing on short in Europe hops.

I took Easyjet from Malpensa (Milan) to Gatwick (London) a few years ago. No problems.

Thanks you everyone! Ended up booking British Airways. I decided I wanted to fly out of and into airports that were closest to where our AirBnb's are and British Airways fit the bill best. Price wasn't too bad either. Looking forward to our trip : )
