Flying From FLR to CDG - Air France or Alitalia?

My friends and I will be flying from Florence to Paris. We had a HORRENDOUS experience on Veuling so I am looking at more reputable carriers. Right now it looks like the best times/flights for us are either on Alitalia or Air France. I'm leaning towards Air France. Looking for help determining the lesser of two evils. Ready...set...go!

We had a good experience with Alitalia on four flights in late 2018.

According to Google Flights, It looks like Air France is a non-stop flight, while Alitalia has a connection - so that would be an easy choice for me (I prefer shorter flight times with no connections).

Other than a crash, what could go THAT wrong on 2 hr flight?

I would choose best cost/schedule between the 2

If the cost of both is about the same, I'd say go with the least expensive option. I've had good experiences on both airlines. As I recall, Alitalia seemed to be more diligent about enforcing carry-on bag sizing, but AF may do the same on certain routes.

If the choice is between a non stop flight with Air France or two Alitalia flights with a connection somewhere, the Air France flight would have to be at least twice the price of Alitalia if I were to consider the latter. Book the Air France flight.

Have you considered that often the experiences are far and few between and can happen with any airline? However, Veuling is a low cost carrier often with stringent rules that an unprepared traveler might not have planned for. Sometimes the horror is also due to the airport handlers rather than the airline, but not knowing your experiences, it may be hard to determine.
Alitalia is the airline carrier for Italy and has been around for years. It seems it may need some rescuing, but then I have heard that about Air France as well. Read the luggage rules and if they are equal or both manageable for your packing, then I would choose the shortest or cheapest.

I would choose the shortest as my time is valuable to me while on vacation. Unless there is a HUGE price difference.

AirFrance is the only choice if you want non stop.
It’s a code share flight AirFrance/Alitalia so you might have looked at the same exact flight, operated by AirFrance.
A truly Alitalia operated flight would require going to Rome first.
