We LOVE Rome and thought after our 9 days in Sicily, maybe we could go to Rome for our last day or two, then fly home from there. What's the fastest/easiest/cheapest way to get from Palermo to Rome?

Carol, We used Air One (Lufthansa) for our flight from Rome to Palermo. It was the least expensive, and it takes about an hour in the air. We did the one way fare, as our return was via overnight ferry from Palermo to Naples for our stay on the Amalfi coast.

We flew Air One last year and it was great. We are doing Air One again this year. You can't beat it!

It would probably be less expensive to buy separate round trip tickets to Rome and Rome to Palermo, as airlines tend to charge a large premium for a layover (e.g. 2 days in Rome before your return). I've flown Air One multiple times and think it's a great airline.

AirOne is fine, but they were very strict with the weight limit for checked luggage.
