Fly in to Rome and out of Paris, is this itinerary too much.

My daughter and I are travelling to Europe for the first time and have our flights booked. Would like input on whether this itinerary is realistic. We fly in to Rome and out of Paris.
Rome - 2 nights, Siena - 2 nights, Florence - 2 nights, CT - 2 nights, Venice - 2 nights, fly from Venice to Paris, Paris - 3 nights.
I'm taken up with the Tuscany hillside regions and am wondering if we should stay in Florence for 3-4 nights, drop Siena and just do day trips from Florence. Or perhaps drop Siena and do 3 nights in Florence and 3 nights in CT, as the CT sounds lovely too! Any advice would be very much appreciated!

I agree with dropping 2 nights in Siena in favor of doing it as a day trip from Florence, but I think you need to add one of those nights to Rome if you've never been before. So 3 nights Rome, 3 nights Florence, 2 nights CT, 2 nights Venice, then Paris. It's still very rushed.

You may want to rearrange it to Rome, CT, Florence, Venice, Paris.

Two nights in a location means one full day and one half day of travel.

Personally, I think you're moving around way too much. You have 6 totally different cities listed to visit (in two countries) over the course of 13 days! That's not enough time to "visit" any of these cities. The most you'll get is a brief glance at them unless you slow down. I think you should drop the CT and visit Siena as a day trip from Florence. Since you're taken with Florence you could do other day trips from there and really get a feel for that area. I would suggest 3 nights in Rome, 5 nights in Florence, 2 nights in Venice and 3 nights in Paris.

You can always come back and visit the CT when you have more time.

Drop Siena nights. Add them to Florence and visit Siena from Florence.

Cinque Terre must be moved after Rome and before Florence to avoid backtracking and also the long trip from CT to Venice. Rome to Cinque Terre can be done via the coastal rail route (Rome-Genoa) with trains requiring no change all the way to La Spezia. Check www.trenitalia.com for schedule.

After Cinque Terre go to Florence and lastly to Venice.

You are covering way too much ground in a short time. Two nights in one place mean only one full day in that place. I'm not sure if you want to enjoy your trip and actually see something or if you just have a "Been There Done That" Checklist you simply want to mark complete and frame to a wall. One day in Rome only and two days in Paris? Seriously?

Thanks everyone for your input! Based on your feedback I will definitely slow down the itinerary and enjoy where we visit rather than rush too much! Here's my new plan: Rome - 3 nights, CT - 3 nights, Florence - 4 nights and Paris - 4 nights. I was missing a night in my original post. So this updated plan has us dropping Venice and Siena . Does this sound more reasonable and enjoyable? Thanks, Diane

What a tough choice, all the places you want to see are beautiful. I would not skip Venice in favor of Cinque Terre, but that's my personal preference. Your revised itinerary looks great in terms of being able to enjoy where you will be.
