Fly from Rome or Naples

We will be in Sorrento and have the choice of flying home from Naples or Rome. If we leave from Naples we will stay in Naples the night before because it's a 6:45 am flight. If we leave from Rome we will take train back and stay in Rome the night before for a 10:00 am flight. I know it would be more convenient to do the Naples option but I am worried about the following. Safety & Hotel
Taxi-can we get a cab at 4:00 am and do they stick you with a heavy fare? Any suggestions?

I always prefer to leave from Rome. You'll be less rushed with that option as well. Do they stick you with a higher fare? They don't stick you, fares are regulated within time periods; 4am is considered. ight, so there's a higher fare. Also per-bag charges may apply (a euro or so).

The 6:45 Naples flight will not be a direct flight back. But the 10 AM could be a direct flight so I would opt to Rome if a direct flight.

Where does the Rome flight go to? If it goes to LAX it's ok. But if it goes to JFK or anywhere East coast I'd rather take a flight from EU to California.
IF the Naples flight is NAP > CDG (or MuC/fRA) > SFO I'd rather do that, even though its early morn departure than fly through tha East Coast. Don't worry about Naples. Just stay near Piazza Plebiscito and you'll be fine, it's beautiful there. Taxis are regulated. Naples' bad reputation is overblown. East palo Alto is 30 times worse. Even Redwood City east of El Camino real, around Costco is worse.
