Fly from Naples ?

We will go back to Canada mid Jan and will be staying on the Amalfi coast. Is the best airport to fly out of, Naples? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Naples and Rome are really the 2 choices.

Choice depends on schedule and your budget

Take into account that you should plan to spend your last night in whichever city you are flying out of. Getting to any airport from the AC for a morning flight would probably require a private transfer and a long drive . . . and half a night's sleep.

Naples is the best in terms of distance. It’s closer and easier to get to. There are many shuttle companies from the Amalfi coast to the Naples airport. Rome is farther - you’d need to take a train and plan on it taking hours (the Naples - Rome train is only 1.5 hours but you need to get to Naples, then get to the airport in Rome).

But often Rome has cheaper, faster and easier flights, depending on where you are going. Your options might be a direct flight from Rome or one with a layover from Naples. Meaning the time saved using Naples airport is offset by the flight time.

Look at both. If there’s a direct flight from Naples at a reasonable cost, that would be my choice, but it might not exist.

Just did the departure from Naples in June. No problems at all. We were staying in Positano and had a 6:30 pick for our 10 am flight. We are early birds so the early departure was not an issue for us. The transfer was a little under an hour as there was no traffic. It was a Thursday morning. Hope this is helpful.
