Flumicino airport ground transport to hotel

I am staying at the Hilton Garden Inn Claridge Rome hotel. The hotel states they will provide transportation from Flumicino Airport to the hotel for 55 Euros. Does that seem like a good price? Does anyone have recommendations for a better way to get to the hotel?

One would think having transportation arranged by the hotel would be top notch. Not always the case. It might be a shuttle of some type, a commercial car service, or the desk clerk's brother-in-law. We got an inlaw once but it turned out ok. Have you thought about arranging a private car service on your own? It will cost a bit more, but not much more than a regular taxi. I make this suggestion for the convenience of having a driver meet you in the terminal and whisk you straight to the hotel and only paying at the end of the trip. The service we've used (and will use again) is Rome Cabs. It is a car service and not a taxi company despite the name. This is the link to a service we've used. We just send an email detailing our needs and get an answer within 24 hours. https://www.romecabs.com/.

Hard to tell. The taxi's fixed rate applies to "within the ancient walls" ---- more or less the center of Rome. The Hilton is some distance from the center so it could be outside "the wall." Now a private car/driver is in the 55 euro range so I am guessing that is what the hotel is providing or arranging. So the 55 euro would be a reasonable rate for a car and driver.

I took a very quick look at the surrounding area and did not see a subway/train stop (did see a bus stop) so I think the suggested hotel transportation is a good option and reasonable. For sightseeing from that location, you will need to depend on taxis. The taxis in Rome are dependable and reasonably priced. A side note --- you can only get a taxi are a taxi stop. You cannot hail them on the street as you would in New York City.

The Fixed taxi fare is Euro 50 now; Euro 55 is a good price for a driver that will be waiting for you at the arrivals even if your flight is delayed.

I have no idea where your hotel is, but the no-stop airport train to Roma Termini costs 14 Euro pp. The local train from the airport to Roma Trastevere and other secondary stations around Rome costs 8 Euro pp.

Last, there are many private companies running buses to Rome. They are all listed on the Airport's official site.

EDIT: The fixed taxi fares, applies within the Aurelian Walls. They are ancient, but using the right name is useful to find a map on Google.

If you're arriving at FCO after an overnight flight from the US, I can't think of a better way to get to the hotel. All you have to do is look for someone holding a sign or a tablet with either your name or the name of the hotel.

We arranged through our hotel and it was in that price range. Our hotel was at Campo de’ Fiore. It worked well. We’ve arranged transportation to hotels through the hotel in many countries and we’ve always been pleased with the service.

It does appear that the hotel is outside the walls so yep, 55 euro would be a good price, especially to have a car waiting upon arrival.

The hotel isn't in a particularly convenient location for sightseeing the usual things tourists come to Rome to see - too far to walk from the hotel to many of them - but it does appear to be on a bus + tram lines, although not a metro line.

Thank you all for the quick and helpful responses. I'll go with the hotel provided transport. It seems the price is fair and it will be one less thing to think about when i get there.
