My plans have changed and I now am flying KLM airline from FLR connecting in AMS with final destination to LAX in USA. There is only ticket and KLM for both flights. One bag will be checked to final destination; one person flying.
The flight from FLR leaves at 06:30 and arrives 08:40 in Amsterdam Schiphol. I am worried about the connection time of 70 minutes for the connecting flight at 09:50 on KLM to LAX. Is 70 minutes enough time for the connection at AMS ?
Thank you for your help.
KLM believes it is enough time. If not, its their dime to get you to your destination 'asap'
No dilly dally time but if 1st flight on time it should be OK
Book a seat in the front of the plane.
KLM thinks it can be done, but there is in my opinion not a lot of margin. If you miss your flight home, KLM will rebook you. Will it be a problem if you are delayed for a day?
I have had 50 minute transfers at AMS multiple times. One time my wife was randomly chosen for an extra search too and we always made it. I prefer 2 hours at AMS but, if you have no other option, I'd suggest upgrading to an Economy Comfort seat. This way you will have a dedicated above head storage space since you will likely be one of the last to board. You won't be able to upgrade through Delta but if you contact KLM (or use their app) you will be able to upgrade your seat. Good luck.
Amsterdam Schipol and Munich are the two European airports with the most efficient and easy transfer. Don't worry about it.
If, for whatever reason, the FLR-AMS flight is late and you miss the flight to LAX, KLM will rebook you for the next day and you'll get to visit Amsterdam for a half day at their expense.
Don't forget you do go exit Schengen during the connection so that will add a bit off tme.
AMS is a nightmare the good thing is if your departure time is up you can cut the line and get through quickly at least that was my experience a few years ago just get to that area they will start yelling out departure times or place it on the screen you just jump under the rope if it’s your time and they let you go through to get to next gate.
Thank you for all of your replies. I'll have to decide whether to take risk or not. My seat is at the front of the plane - so fingers crossed !
