Florentine New Year, the Festa dell'Annunciazione March 25th

I have seen one mention of this and was told it is an annual event. A parade starts out from Piazza della Signoria at 10:15 with processioners dressed in medieval garb. At 11 the procession arrives in Piazza SS Annunziata where the celebrations go on all day with open air markets, special dishes and music.

Has anyone been? Recommendations?

Start in piazza Signoria now? Did it move?
It usually started from the Piazzetta Di Parte Guelfa, then Piazza Repubblica, via Calzaiuoli, piazza Duomo, via Cavour, piazza San Marco and finally Piazza SS Annunziata. Then back after church.

Do you know any more about the open air market celebrations after the parade?

Hi - I was at the Piazza SS Annunziata this year for the New Year procession. Surprisingly, the tourist office was not helpful with details so we just showed up - I will try to check the time we went and post again bit I think we went around 10:30 or 11 and had to wait for a bit.

There is a small market, mostly food and candy, in the piazza - not really anything special. The procession is fun to look at - people are dressed as you suggest, in costume and there is drumming. It's nice for photos if you haven't seen a procession like this in Florence before (they have a lot of them I think).

The parade people end up in the church. The street in front of the church is your best view I think.

Thanks Shirley for your reply! That is helpful, we'd love to see the parade but sounds like we can still get a lot of other sites in that same day since the market won't take much time!!
