Florence wineries

Planning a 3-4 day trip ito Florence but going to venture out to check out some wineries. Any favorites that are somewhat nearby accessible by train? Looking at Chianti Road but not sure how far that is....

From my research, it looks like there really aren't too many accessible by train. We are looking at different private drivers or even small tour groups to take us wine tasting. Most of them hit 2 wineries and then lunch in a village in Tuscany. Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong! :) If the train would work to go to wineries, then we'll do that (much cheaper than a private driver or tour).

As far as I know there aren't any wineries actually in Florence; you'll have to get out of town if you want to visit a winery. Trains in Tuscany go from one city/town to another and aren't much use for visiting wineries. The options for visiting wineries in Tuscany are- car (in which case you won't be drinking), bike (fun if that's you kind of thing), local bus (certainly doable but not so easy), small group tour (not cheap), private driver/tour guide (REALLY not cheap!) The Frescobaldi winery http://www.frescobaldi.it has a very good reputation and history. Also Castello di Verrazano, if a little touristy.

I've always had a car but you might look into the public buses that serve the towns between Florence and Siena on the Chianti Road. You still would have trouble getting to a real winery, but the smaller towns are filled with small wine bars where you can do some tasting. There are only a few wineries open to the public and offering tastings anyway.
