Florence Wine Tour

We will be in the May 17 RS "My Way Italy" tour. While in Florence, where we have been before, we want a tour to vineyards for tastings, etc. The tours recommended in the guidebook do not seem to go for serious tastings in top notch vineyards. Can someone recommend a tour? Thanks.

You can have serious tastings without even leaving Florence.
Castello di Verrazzano has opened a food joint - basic food like salami and cheese and pies with tasting of their wines, right in the very center of Florence at via de' Tavolini http://www.verrazzano.com/en/the-place/ - be there early as the place is quite popular.
Another place to consider could be the winebar at Enoteca Alessi in via delle Oche http://www.enotecaalessi.it/en/winebar

Not being familiar with the tour you are on, you may or may not have a full day for a tour. But - if you have a full day, the Tuscan Wine Tours by Grape Tours is a wonderful day in Tuscany. It is a maximum of 8 people in a van. You visit two lovely wineries and have extensive tastings plus lunch. The scenery and education of the tour was great. It was one of the highlights of my trip last fall.
