Florence: what can I skip and not regret!

What can I honestly skip or not go inside on my 5-day trip to Florence. I need to eliminate things bc my itinerary is too jam-packed. I am also including Sienna for a day and have a day to do one tour…I want it to be spectacular but there are too many to choose from!

Think it all depends on what you like but since you asked; Pitti Palace.

Totally depends on your interests and priorities, none of which we know. As with most world class cities rich in culture and history, you are never going to see everything in a single visit. Prioritize 2 or 3 things every day, and have a B list of places you can see if the opportunity arises. Don't make the mistake of cramming in too much every day. FOMO has ruined more than one trip. But if you love it, chances are you'll return. I've been there 3 times and still haven't seen everything I want to see.

I agree with Claudia - The Pitti Palace.

Reasons - even though the rooms are beautiful, there was just too much going on, drapes, wallpaper, furniture, art works, sculptures. We didn’t know where to look. It was overwhelming and underwhelming at the same time.
They did have a nice exhibition of dresses, but nothing you haven’t seen in other museums.
We just felt our time could have been spent better elsewhere.

We did find a great place for gelato just over one of the bridges, not the Ponte Vecchio, on the corner- Gelateria Santa Trinita. We were there a few times.

Also, the Varasi Corridor has reopened. That could be of interest to you. It wasn’t open when we visited in August.

Agree.
The Pitti Palace is enormous and full of things that although relevant to history, are not really that interesting to the average tourist.
Also the Boboli Gardens.
They are very sculpted and manicured.
A lot of people are surprised at the lack of colour and flowers as I think they expect gardens to be more English and full.
Go to these places on your next visit!
