My fiancé and I will marry in Florence in September. I am looking to take our family to dinner afterwards. I want my guests to be able to order directly off the menu and not have a set meal. We will be a party of 7. Any suggestions?
Hello again Pattie!
Wow! Wedding in Florence- how wonderful! I responded to your Golden View Open Bar question...last summer we traveled with our two children, then 19 & 23. They loved the mojitos!! But we also celebrated my daughter's birthday at a place we had gone to previously & just had to go back : Boccadama Enoteca - mentioned in RS books- near Santa Croce. Small, cozy, candlelit, delightful. Amazing wines! Dinner: walnut gnocchi & wild boar penne with rosemary - could not be beat! We loved it & highly recommend it for a special celebratory meal!!
Congratulations for your wedding.
I know a lot of places for weddings in Florence (after attending so many of family and friends) but they are all a little out of town. Florentines don't generally celebrate weddings in the city center but generally in locations on the villas, castles and the nearby countryside. I've chosen 2 famous ones, that specialize in such events and are on the hills surrounding Florence. It might give you a chance to take pictures with Florence in the background. This one is famous also because of the movie "Room with a View". In these grounds they filmed the sequence where they went to the countryside on a horse carriage: http://www.fattoriadimaiano.com/en/villa/index.php The next one is also a favorite for weddings. It's on the hills near Fiesole: http://www.villalerondini.it/
