Florence VS. Lucca

My husband, my 18 month old and myself are going to spend 2 days in Florence during our 2 week trip to Tuscany. My husband and I have been to Florence, so this will be a return trip for us. Do you all think that a day trip to Lucca would be more fun with our baby or do you think spending the day in Florence would be better?
**Please no comments about leaving our daughter at home.....We travel as a family***

Thank you for any advice

I don't know Lucca, but our grand daughter loved the carousel in the Piazza della Repubblica in Florence.

Well I really enjoyed Lucca, but with only 2 days I would likely just stay in Florence. There is a lot to see there and getting to and from Lucca would likely be tiring with an 18 mo. I'd save Lucca for another trip.

With only 2-days in Florence, there's no sense in traveling one day, only to travel again the next day. Enjoy the sights and attractions that Florence offers, relax. With an 18-month old, you'll be on their schedule: feeding, naps, changings, feeding, naps...

Another option is to cancel Florence and spend your two days in Lucca. Do you have to stay in Florence, you've been there before, where else are you visiting in Tuscany?

Good idea. Lucca is an interesting place. Some fascinating cathedrals and towers, lovely garden, and some absolutely fantastic walls (you can walk or bike around the circumference.) As I recall there was also a carousel in the main plaza at Lucca.

Both cities are great options, but I like the idea of visiting Lucca if you've never been. I agree with the other posters that there are lots of interesting things to see and do, and I loved walking and biking on the walls- it's like one big, long park up there, with lovely shade and great views. Your family might really enjoy that. Either way, have a wonderful time, and I'm sure your little one will bring lots of smiles wherever you choose to go :)
