Florence, Venice

In June I will be visiting with family ( adults) Florence & Venice by train ( departing from Rome). What are is better to stay? Also in 3 days in each city, what are the most popular or better to see?

You can see top indoor sights summarized here for Venice and Florence but then I recommend Rick's guidebooks for filling in the details. And they cover more sightseeing that just those lists. You can also download free audio tours for walking and museum routes; see "Listen" on those same pages.

If you want day trips, from Rome, go to Orvieto. From Florence, go to Pisa and/or Lucca. From Venice, see the islands, Burano and Murano.
