I am trying to call to make reservations for my visit to Florence's Uffizi Gallery using the phone number (011-39-055-294-883) on Rick Steve's Italy 2008 book and this website. When we call the lady who answers says it is a private line and not the phone number for reservations. Anyone else having this issue? Anyone have the right number?

You can buy your tickets online now.... the number at the official museums site matches the one you've listed, so if it's changed recently, not even the official museums site has updated it!

The 2008 guidebook printed the phone number incorrectly. However, I believe it was printed as 001-39-055-294-883, and the number you listed should be correct.
The usual advice on this site is to ask your hotel to book for you, if possible.

That's the number I used a couple of weeks ago. It's better IMHO to call, because the website only has reservations from about mid-day, while by phone there are many more options.
