Florence Uffizi and David

Hello
With the Uffizi, do you think it should be better to go in the early morning or afternoon to check out this gallery?
Does anyone know the official site to purchase advance tickets to this Museum?

Also for the David in the Academia, what is the link to the official site for tickets for this?
How long do you think it takes to venture through the Accademia Gallery?
Do Advance tickets allow us to skip the line?

Thank you kindly for your time!!!!

This is the official site for buying reserved tickets: http://www.polomuseale.firenze.it/en/orari/. The number of people allowed into each space is controlled, so the reservation allows you to enter at a specific time without waiting for a place to empty. You will still go through small lines for security or to pick up tickets, but you won't be one of the people standing on the street for hours. Both museums run pretty full throughout the day, but an early start at one or the other is a good incentive to get you out of the hotel and on your way. Some people only spend a half hour in the Accademia, just to focus on the Michelangelo sculptures and skip other rooms.

The Accademia is pretty small. There are a few sculpture galleries, a large gallery with plaster cast reproductions (used by the students back in the day) and a temporary exhibition gallery. If the plaster casts and temp exhibition don't interest you, seeing the main sculptures can take as little as 20 minutes.

There is also a small gallery of musical instruments and a few galleries with medieval and Renaissance paintings (follow signs for "Pinacoteca"). Even if you stroll through all of the galleries, it's a small museum.

Zoe means "Pinacoteca." (I think "Pinacota" is a cross between a piña colada and panna cotta.) (^_^).

The Accademia also has some unfinished pieces by Michelangelo called the Prisoners. I thought they were amazing. They look as if they're trying to claw their way out of the marble. I would think an hour there would be plenty.

Thanks, Michael. Error corrected. If I had a dime for every typo I've made, I could pay for a trip to Italy.

micahel is correct about the prisoners......some of the most amazing pieces I have ever seen.....had to buy the 20 dollar michaleanglo book in the gift shop just for the pics of those.

we got the reservations ahead of time....you go across the street to a tiny office to exchange your computer print out for real tickets....the rest of my group queued up while I did that, and we were the first people thru the door.....AMAZING to get pics of david with no one else in the room. we saw everything....and I went back to the prisoners....and I bet we were there about 2 hours. it was starting to fill up (get crowed) as we left
