Florence - Tuscany - Salerno Car Pick Up/Drop Off Questions

Hi Friends

My family of 5 are planning to rent a car for 3 nights in Tuscany from 9th of September to 12th of September.

We will be departing from Florence (Borgo Ognissanti, 50123) to head to our
Agriturismo at Str. Radi Ville di Corsano, 2778B, 53014 Monteroni D'arbia SI,

And after our time at the Agriturismo we will be dropping off our car at a yet unknown place before departing for Salerno on the 12th of September.

So our dilemma is what should our “attack plan” be?
1.) Pick up: Train to Siena and then grab a car there? OR Train to Airport, grab car and drive to our Agriturismo?
2.) Drop off: Back at Siena, Florence Airport, Chiusi-Chianciano or Orvieto before proceeding to take the train to Salerno
(Deliberately avoiding Picking up and Dropping of at garages near Firenze SMN)

My gut feel is – out of sheer convenience it might be easiest to just pick up from airport and drop to airport and using Buses to commute to and fro Firenze Santa Maria and then train directly to Salerno from there.

But if you guys have any ideas on what might be better more scenic, and possibly expedient options – I am all ears!

Thanks!!!

From Borgo Ognissanti head out to Monteroni d'Arbia. I will give you directions separately.
After your stay at the agriturismo, with a family of 5 (presumably some kids) and plenty of luggage, I would not bother with the train. I would get on your car (you need a larger model for 5 people) and drive to Salerno. The drive is almost entirely on 4 to 6 lane freeways, like you are probably used at home, and takes under 5 hours plus pit stops for fuel, bathroom, lunch (Italian rest areas, or AREA DI SERVIZIO within the freeway system are mini shopping centers with plenty of food choices, you need to experience the Autogrill).
The car rental agencies in Salerno are near the harbor, in front of the train station.

If you don't want to drive the 5 hours on the freeway, the only sensible alternative would be to drop the car off at CHIUSI (Chiusi Scalo, to be exact), and take the train from there. You will likely need to change trains in Rome. I wouldn't do it in your case, but I mentioned it for your consideration.

These are the directions on how to get out of Florence and head to Siena. Either path works.
Make sure to follow it exactly.

The ZTL camera is on Lungarno Amerigo Vespucci just east of the bridge. So make sure you turn right at the bridge to be out of danger.

The ZTL sign, in English too, red light, and overhead camera is very visible. As the blue signs indicates, you cannot go straight toward the above ZTL entry gate under the camera unless authorized, so you will turn right on the bridge which is on the right of this picture
This is a view from above. You will be coming on Lungarno Vespucci on the bottom left of the photo, and must turn right onto the Vespucci Bridge.
You are now totally out of danger. Once across the bridge you are forced to turn right only on Lungarno Soderini, so there is no chance of getting inside the ZTL because you would need to turn left after the bridge against the flow of traffic. If after crossing the bridge, you do turn left against the flow of traffic, there is no ZTL camera to catch you, but I heard that front end collisions hurt. So turn right.

Roberto Da Firenze,

Apologies for the late response. But thank you for your kind and detailed reply.
After much consideration, i just decided to pick up/drop off the car at the Florence Airport.
Partly also because the car i desired was not available at the FMSN car rental company.

8:30 Pick up car from Florence Airport
09:00- 10:00 Drive from Florence Aiport to Greve in Chianti (If time permits, if not head directly to Verazzano)
10:00 - 11:30 Spend time in Greve in Chianti (Apparently there is a wine festival)
11:30 - 12:00 Greve in Chianti to Castello Di Verazzano
12:00-3 Lunch at Castello Di Verazzano
3:15 - 6 pm Slow drive from Castello Di Verazzano before arriving at our Siena Agriturismo at (Via Radi Corsano 2778, 53014, Monteroni d'Arbia, Italy)

From Verazzano to Radi Corsano - there are a number of places i could visit such as Panzano, Radda in Chianti, Castellina in Chianti, Poggibonsi, Monteriggioni.

Would there be a particular place or 2 that you would recommend visiting enroute from Verazzano to Radi Corsano?

Thanks once again and many apologies for the delayed response!
