I am trying to determine how to get to Bagno a Ripoli from Florence Santa Maria Novella station on a Monday morning. My research suggests different bus routes but I have not been able to figure out if the timing will work. I am wondering if I should take a bus from SMN, take the train to Firenze Rovezzano and then take a taxi, or take a taxi from Santa Maria Novella. I will be coming from Bologna and need to be in Bagno a Ripoli by 9:30 AM for a class. I would likely take the 7:25 train to Florence. I would appreciate any insight and suggestions from those of you familiar with Florence. I have visited Florence several times but have always stayed in the historic center. Thanks in advance.
try Rome2Rio.com. It will give you transportation options and cost. Looks like a regular bus route and Taxi could also be an option.
I need the exact address in Bagno a Ripoli, because that would determine which bus(es) you need.
Or you can go by taxi, which is convenient but more expensive (20€ to 35€ depending on exact destination). If you have luggage you should consider the taxi option.
I lived very close to Bagno a Ripoli, a very short bicycling distance. That is where my high school is located.
Thanks for your replies. I started with Rome2rio but couldn't access bus schedules for some reason. The address is Via di Scolivigne 56. Again, I do appreciate the help. I travel to Italy yearly and usually figure things out using this forum and other sites but this excursion has stumped me. I will not have luggage. The class operator suggested that bus 354 may work but I haven't been able to figure out if that is correct.
Here is the 354 bus schedule.

It looks like strictly a commuter bus. One early morning, one afternoon, and a couple in the evening. Your stop is between Grassina and Capannuccia. So unless you can get to Florence SMN before 6:30 am, a taxi might be best. Although the address is technically in the Commune of Bagno a Ripoli, it is not near the town center.
Take the Frecciargento at 7:45 direct to Firenze Campo di Marte arriving at 8:25. Should be taxis there. It is closer to where you are going than S.M.N. station.
I asked because the municipality of Bagno a Ripoli is very large and has many districts (called “frazioni” or fractions, basically villages within the municipality).
Your address is near the “frazione”, or village (big village) of Grassina, which is part of the municipality of Bagno a Ripoli. It is actually past Grassina on the way to San Polo in Chianti, just before another village called Capannuccia. Been there many times since many of my high school friends lived in Grassina.
The best option is indeed the bus 354 which is operated by Busitalia (formerly Sita Bus).
The Busitalia station is located on Via Santa Caterina da Siena, across from the Firenze Santa Maria Novella train station, on the Bar Deanna side of the station (that would be the west side of the station but Italians don’t use cardinal points much, they prefer landmarks, and that Bar Deanna is a famous one). The Busitalia bus station and the Bar Deanna are actually part of the same building. The bus station is just past the corner.
Bon Voyage.
A taxi from Campo di Marte wont cost you much less than the same taxi from SMN. just take the train that is most convenient for you.
Another option is the ATAF bus 31 to Grassina then from Grassina the 49 to your destination. Unfortunately 31 departs from Piazza San Marco, so you’d need a bus from the train station to San Marco (several go there) then 31 then 49.
Thank you so much. This is very helpful. I will take the train then decide on bus or taxi when I get to Florence. I have always been on foot or used the train when in Florence so the bus will be a new experience. I have used buses in other parts of Italy with great success so I am glad to know it is an option. Thanks again for taking the time to provide such detailed information.
