Florence Train Station Name?

Hi Im in Gimmelwald right now and will be taking a night train from Interlaken to Florence on Wednesday night. Im confused because the station is listed as Firenze Campo Di Mar. Has the Florence train station changed its name from Santa Maria Novella or is there another train station in Florence that I cant find any info about?

Santa Maria Novella (SMN) Firenze is the central train station. There was an earlier question about the other train station as a stop for overnight trains and info was given concerning getting into Florence--cab or? Maybe you can look it up in the "search" box up in the righthand corner of this page.

Campo di Marte station is to the east of the downtown, a commuter station they've been trying to build up traffic to by having some trains, eg night trains, end up there. Simply run inside to the news stand, purchase a one-euro Florence transit ticket, have it stamped in one of the machines on the platform, and keep an eye on the board for the next commuter train going through to SMN station. There are several each hour. But beware...they don't stop for long! The journey to SMN is under 10 minutes.

Thank you both for your help. It was really confusing me because I did not see it mentioned in Ricks book and I could not find it on the map.

If you want, access Google maps and you be able to see it on a map and satellite overview. SMN train station is at 43.775890, 11.247120. Campo di Marti station is at 43.777830, 11.275800. As you can see, it's just a quick up and around to SMN.

In Rick's new guide book "Italy 2008", there is a section on Page 373 under "Arrival in Florence" that includes info about all three train stations. If you have the 2007 book, it's probably near the same page or section.
