I'm planning to be in Florence for one day at the end of March and would like to get tickets for Uffizi, Accademia and Duomo tower. We're a family that keeps a full schedule when on vacation. How much time should I plan at each venue? In what order do you recommend we visit? If you were buying tickets for these three venues, what tour times would you target?
Norsk3, what EXACT day are you planning to do this, and do you have a FULL day in which to do it....meaning you are staying in Florence the night before and the night after (2 nights)?
Rick has a suggested itinerary for one day in Florence on p. 33 of his Tuscany book. For the three you're looking at, you'll want to make sure to get reservations and get to each location 15 minutes before your scheduled time. Fortunately, they all seem to be within a reasonable walking distance of each other. He suggests: Uffizi Gallery at 8:15 AM - allowing about 2.5 hours, Duomo https://duomo.firenze.it/en/home/ at 3:00 - allowing about 2 hours - they have 3 types of tickets and one goes up in the Duomo, Accademia at 5:30 allowing about 2 hours. I would take one of these two routes: Accademia to Duomo to Uffizi OR Uffizi to Duomo to Accademia. Keep in mind that the Duomo is a church and requires closed-toe shoes, covered knees, and covered shoulders for all. They are very specific about that on their webpage.
We are planning to be in Florence Wednesday, March 26 and will sleep in Florence two nights.
When we were in Florence Sept 30-Oct 4 2022, lines for the Duomo and for the tower were very very long, and people had timed tickets. I would skip that, and go to Piazzo Michaelangelo for a great view of Florence. Uffizi for 2.5 hours seems OK - maybe have lunch in the Cafe. Then go to the Accademia - much smaller, do-able in 2 hours. Even in March things will be busy.
