Florence to Vernazza with Toddler, by train or transfer?

Hi all,
September 13th we will be traveling from Florence to Vernazza. There will be 3 adults and a 2 year old. I know I can take the train with 1 or 2 connections...but the train with 1 connection departs 2 hours after we have to check out of our apartment, so I'm starting to think paying for a private transfer for all four of us would be easier. Has anyone bit the bullet and paid for the convenience of a private transfer for this route? Any recommendations?

Thank you,

Jessica

I don't see how one extra transfer is really such a big deal, if you're already willing to deal with one. What are you so worried about? Are you bringing a ton of luggage?

You'll probably change at La Spezia and Pisa? At worst, you have to change platforms by going down stairs and walking to the next platform and walking up the stairs. (There may be elevators but I wouldn't count on them working.) You might get lucky and find the connecting train departing from the same or adjacent platform so not have to go anywhere: get off the train maybe get right on the next one.

Hi Andrew,
If the one connection train ride was available before or near our check out time from our apartment then we would do that route. But I don't want the hassle with a 2 year old of killing time, watching our baggage or doing baggage check waiting for that 1 connection route. And doing the 2 connection route, of course is doable, but a pain when you have luggage for 4 people plus a car seat and umbrella stroller. I'm thinking if I can make this transition EASIER on all of us, it's worth the extra bucks. We are fans of private transfers for ease of travel, especially when traveling with our young son. I found great reviews from Mark Limo Tours on Tripadvisor. I'm just looking for anyone on this site that's used a private transfer for this route...or wish they had.
