Hi, we are planning to visit Florence next month and will be heading to Rome for the weekend. We want to stop over in Sienna on the way and then return to Florence from Rome and we will not have a vehicle. I need help with the best transportation for this itinerary. Thank you
Bus from Florence to Siena is better than train as the bus gets you into the town, train station is outside of town.
Train from Siena to Rome then train from Rome to Florence.
Thank you! What is the best website for planning our transit?
For train times and prices go to http://www.trenitalia.com/ then click on the Union Jack for English.
This will give you the bus schedules

For trains use this

Thank you for this information. When I looked at train schedule from Sienna to Rome, it looks like it takes 3.5 hours and some connections go back to Florence. Would it be better to take bus from Sienna to Rome?
Just FYI. The train station is not that far from the center of town anymore. Hasn't been for a few years. There's an escalator that goes from the shopping mall across the street from the train station to just outside the walls. We spent over a week in Siena and used it a few times for parking and train day trips. If the train schedule works in your favor, I'd consider.
