Florence to Siena Drive

Hi, My husband and I are driving from Florence to Siena in March. We wanted to take the most scenic drive. We have an "unlimited" amout of time that day, and would like to stop and take pictures, visit wineries, etc. What route/s do you recommend? Are there any stops such as wineries/restaurants you would suggest also? Thanks!

If you're just going for a day trip to Siena, go to the Florence train station and the bus station next door. Take a bus on the one hour trip into the Siena city center. Parking in Siena is a big expense, and the city has ZTL's that are too easy to get $100+ tickets for entering where you're not allowed. A Siena day trip is just not worth a car rental. Now, if you were going to stay out in the Chianti countryside for a few days, by all means go with the car rental. Rambling thru Chianti is a great experience, and the hill towns South of Florence are great tourists sights. There are many organized winery trips, but they often go over $130 (U.S.) I've read great things about the Tuscan Wine School who are in both Florence and Siena at very reasonable rates.
