Florence to San Gimignano by Corse Rapide Bus & Florence to Venice by Train

Hi,

I will be making a short trip to Italy - about 7 days. I have chosen the hotels/B&B's in Florence, San Gimignano and Venice I would like to stay in. I haven't booked them yet because I am unsure about the bus schedule and the train schedule. I really want a timeline for when the buses and trains depart and arrive before I book my overnight stays, something I can see online t give a roundabout time frame.

I would like to travel on a Corse Rapide bus from Florence to San Gimignano because that seems to be the fastest according to a few guide books - 1.25 hours. I understand there is a stop in Poggibonsi. I am having difficulty finding the names of the bus companies that provide this. I would like to view the times online so I can have a round about time for the last bus there and back.

Also, I would like to travel from San Gimignano to Venice. Is the best way to do this to travel back to Florence and then take the train to Venice? What are the names of the train companies? Again, I want to view the times online so I have a roundabout time for the best time.

I understand that times for the trains and buses may change, but having a roundabout timeline will help me make up my mind and give me peace of mind.

Thanks so much for your assistance! I have read through the Helpline comments and the tips have been very helpful!

Sincerely,
Laura

You can access Florence-San Gimignano bus schedules at http://www.sitabus.it/sita-toscana/Firenze%20-%20Siena.pdf. A change of bus is required in Poggibonsi, but the buses are timed to connect. There are hourly trains from Florence to Venice throughout the day. You can check schedules at www.trenitalia.it. Select the English language option, but use the Itlaian names of the cities - Firenze and Venezia. If staying in Venice, you'll want to go to the Venezia Santa Lucia station.
