Wondering if anyone has any recommendations on where to stop between Florence and Rome?
Looking for 1 day/night stop in between.
Camille, I agree, Orvieto would be a really good choice! It's a beautiful Umbrian hill town with an interesting history. Be sure to see the incredible Signorelli frescoes on the ceiling of the Duomo (at the back, to the right) and also St. Patrick's Well (if you're interested). The trip from Florence to Orvieto varies between ~1H:50M - 2H:45M, depending on which train you use. The shorter trips are often from Firenze Rifredi, which is the "other" station in Florence. The trip from Orvieto to Rome is about an hour, so very easy. Happy travels!
Orvieto. Looking at a map, you'll see it's about half way between Florence and Rome. Orvieto is popular with people posting here and is well described in any guidebook.
