In September we are going to Italy for 2 weeks. We are thinking about starting in Rome, then going to Florence, Cinque Terre and leaving from Venice. What is the best way to get to Cinque Terre? And is CT between Florence and Venice? Suggestions please...
Better: Rome, CT, Florence, Venice
We did Venice, Cinque Terre and Rome in 7 days a couple years ago. The train trip from Venice to CT took us through Florence and then to La Spezia to catch the "milk train" to Vernazza. We left on the train from Florence around noon and arrived in Vernazza at 3:30PM It was a pleasant train ride.
Thanks for the input! It's always good to hear from people that have gone through these experiences.
You can easily take the train from Florence to the C.T. We usually rent a car while in Italy but last summer I was there with my sisters and we used trains and went from FLorence to the C.T. It is a regional train you will take. You will get off in LaSpezia Centrale and change to one of the trains to take you to your village of choice. Be sure to validate your train tickets. We saw many people getting tickets for not validating!! Buon Viaggio!
