There is frequent rail service between Florence and Bologna. The fast trains take about 35 minutes. From Bologna there is frequent service to Venice. In fact, the major route from Florence to Venice goes through Bologna. Don't expect to see much scenery between Florence and Bologna, almost the entire route is underground.
I don't know about the Ferrari Museum, but if you have time to squeeze in a food tour, Bologna is well known as a culinary capital. We loved the food tour by Amazing-Italy.com.
Enjoy
The Ferrari Museum is in Modena. The factory museum is outside the city and the Enzo Ferrari Museum is near the train station. You can a take a shuttle bus run by the museum to the factory from either Bologna or Modena, but it will only return to Modena. Full details and tickets are available in English on their website.
Been to Bologna, not high on my list of places to visit in Italy.
Ravenna was great for the Byzantine history.
If using trains, you'll need to backtrack to Bologna to continue on to Venice. However it's only about 30 minutes by train between Bologna and Modena, so a very manageable detour. I don't recall whether there's luggage storage at the Modena train station, but then I wasn't looking for it. If not, then you could store your luggage in Bologna and pick it up on your way to Venice.
This might help you decide.

Definitely leave your luggage in Bologna at the stations left luggage facility.
