Florence to Bologna Day Trip on September Weekday

Have read that taking a bus from Florence to Bologna for a day trip is a better, more convenient option than taking a train. Can anyone share their personal experiences or recommendations?

Can’t imagine why
Fast train takes 38 min
Bus takes almost 2 hours
Both train stations are in the center easy to get to

The train is faster and better.

You might have read something about going to the Bologna Airport from Florence.

There is a bus (AppenninoShuttle) from the Florence station (Fortezza da Basso/near track 16 to be exact) that goes directly to the Bologna airport and takes 90 min. Some people going from Florence to the Bologna airport prefer that bus to the train+bus or mover combination since the time to the Bologna airport would be similar and one would not need to haul luggage around since the bus drops you right at the Bologna airport and the bus is cheaper as well. However it doesn't apply to you because you are not going to the Bologna airport, you are going to the city center to see the city and the train is much faster, although a bit more expensive..
