Florence: Timed tickets for the Bargello and San Marco

Hi All,

My partner and I are travelling to Florence in Sept (11 - 16) and are looking to purchase our tickets in advance where we can. We've already ruled out the Firenza card, so we will be buying individual tickets to each site we're visiting. We'll be going to the Uffizi, G d'A, Bargello, and San Marco. We'll be doing the Uffizi and G d'A first thing in the morning on two different days, and with reservations highly recommended, we'll be getting timed tickets for as early as we can.

The real question though is about timed tickets for Bargello and San Marco. The b-ticket site only allows you to make timed reservations for those museums as well. I want advanced tickets, and I can pick a day, but don't want to have to pick a time to arrive. Don't know how activities earlier in the day will go (run long, short, etc). Is it possible to get dated, but untimed tickets for those sites?

If so, where can get them?

If not, how strict are they at those two sites about arriving for your reservation? If I'm early will I have to wait to enter? Or if I'm late, will I forfeit my ticket and have to buy again?

Or does it just make sense to not buy an advance ticket for those two sites since the lines are manageable anyway.

Thanks in advance!

KJ, I don't see the need to buy advance tickets for either San Marco or the Bargello. While we did both with a pass that no longer covers them, there was either no ticket queue or not enough to worry about when we arrived. If you want flexibility, just show up and buy a ticket at the entrance.

Editing to add: I'm delighted that you've chosen to do them as they're often overlooked and under-appreciated. San Marco, especially, was a treasure. :O). As you will be close to it when you do that one, take a short walk down Via Cesare Battisti to Piazza della Santissima Annunziata. It's a lovely little corner with valuable architecture and a church with cloister frescoes from some of the Florentine Renaissance's Who's Who.

I was just going to saythe same. It was 5 yrs ago but there was nobody else there but us at San Marco and the Bargello had just a few other visitors.
They were 2 of our favorite sights in Florence.

LOL we do seem to like the same things and go the same places.
Have you been to Portugal? that's our next trip. The Portugal forum is dead compared to the Italy forum here

Have you been to Portugal?

Nope but I'm sure you'll have much to teach me should I decide to go!

Just to confirm what the others have said: we just returned from Florence last week and can confirm that there were no lines at either the Bargello or San Marco - no need to worry about timed entry at either one.
