It sounds as if the strike will last all day and and is not just in Florence: "Taxi Tuesday, November 21, 2017 Taxis in the most important train stations will be on strike for the whole day, on Tuesday November 21st."

The quote is from SummerInItaly.com, which has a webpage listing transportation strikes.

The strike is for taxis throughout Italy, not just Florence.
It is all day from 8am to 10pm nationwide. Since it’s now 10pm in Italy, it should end shortly.

We're also dealing with the question of Uber and similar services, and Taxi operators here are not happy either. The government has hired a consultant to "study the issue" and ride sharing legislation is already prepared, so the likes of Uber will be appearing here sometime next year.

Uber seems to be having a bad week. I believe they were just fined $8.9 million in Colorado. They also just revealed that they suffered a huge data breach, which put millions of customer records at risk.
