Florence: Supermarket to buy prepared meals?

Hi, I'm going to be in Florence over the Christmas holiday. On Christmas day itself, I would prefer not to eat in a restaurant (I did this once before, slightly depressing). Instead, I would like to buy some prepared foods for a Christmas meal to have at 'home' in the flat I'm renting. I'm thinking here of the kind of gourmet, takeaway, refrigerated meals you can buy from places like Marks and Spencer's and Waitrose in England or Eatzi, Central Market, or Wholefoods in the United States. ... Somewhere that has meal replacements, breads, wine, cheese, etc. that would feel like a special holiday treat. Can anyone suggest a supermarket or department store in Florence that would sell this kind of special - occasion food? Meals that you basically only have to heat up or arrange before guests arrive? Or, failing this, can anyone suggest a restaurant that might be festive on Christmas day? Thank you!

Hi Kate. We spent a week renting a flat in Florence this summer. We looked everywhere for delis to take food back to our flat. The best we were able to find was a small deli in the Mercato Central (eastern side, main floor). Within two blocks of the MC (south side) is a street with Asian restaurants that have wonderful take out foods. We looked in vain as we went elsewhere in the city. I hope another writer had better fortune than we did! BTW, we also spent a week each in apartments in Verona, Venice, and Rome with the same luck.
