Florence - Statuto

Anyone have any restaurant suggestions for a lunch or dinner in the Statuto area?

Aren't you staying at the Villino Fiorentino?
I don't think there is much in that area. It's more of a residential area, not really a lot of businesses. At most you'll find some pizzerie within walking distance. Do a google search to find anything where you can walk for when you are not in the mood to go far. Otherwise take the T1 tramway and go to the station then walk to the center. There are many near San Lorenzo market.

Yes Roberto, that is correct! I was just wondering if there was anything close by after a weary long haul flight. My next forum question was going to be the tramways, and how to get closer to everything. So that Tram takes you to Santa Maria, then walk from there?

Sounds easy enough!

Yes, that is correct.

Check the T1 Line Map in the article below.
The T1 line is the VILLA COSTANZA - CAREGGI OSPEDALE (the University hospital & Medical school campus) line.

Your stop is STATUTO (the Villino is not even 5 min walk from that stop).
Take the T1 in the direction of VILLA COSTANZA.
Three stops later (5 min) get off at VALFONDA-STAZIONE SANTA MARIA NOVELLA stop.
The city center is just minutes away on foot.

Here are the Google Map directions.

To go back home, take the tramway at the same stop, this time on the opposite direction: CAREGGI OSPEDALE.
Get off at STATUTO.
The ticket costs (I think) € 1.70 and is valid for 90 min in the entire bus/tramway transit system within Florence (they recently increased the price). You can buy the ticket at the kiosk at each stop, or at any tobacconist shop, or via App using the app TABNET, the app of the Italian Association of Tobacconists' Stores (downloadable on Google Play or Apple Store).
Tramway speaker announcements are in Italian and English, so no excuses to get off at the wrong stop.

And if you buy actual tickets, don’t forget to validate them in the machines on board each tram and bus!
They are attached at around shoulder level by the exits.
You never know when an inspector might approach you…… you don’t want to have to pay a fine.

Found two pizzerie around the corner from your accommodations.
The first one is apparently very popular. The owner is Neapolitan and was World Pizza champion years ago. Found several articles in Florentine newspapers and blogs about this place (and the world championship the pizza maker participates in), which apparently makes great pizza (the pizza maker is a woman named Elena Spera, daughter of the Pizzeria founder Salvatore Spera).
The second one is delivery/take out only.
Both are closed this month (August vacation).

If in your tired state a little walking is okay, there is Pantarei at 10” and Fratelli Briganti at 12”, although the pizza sounds good. No, haven’t been to either.
