Have purchased and looked at Rick's Italy DVD's, v helpful. We are visiting Venice, then Florence, and have 2 nights left before taking the train back to Venice to catch our flight. Have visited San Giminangano which I loved. Haven't done Lucca or Siena. However we wanted to visit the Mediterranean and will likely rent a car. Alternative is 2 nights in a quiet Pensione or hotel overlooking the ocean. If you had a choice what would you recommend for the 2 nights? And is there a good seaside location?..thanks..KB P.S. while there may look at a place to buy
There is a nice little town way south of Venice called Rimini; the only tourists there are usually British or Europeans using it as a vacation destination rather than a stop on a longer trip. It is laid back and peaceful.
2 nights in one of the 5 villages of the Cinque Terre--covered in Rick's DVD and book.
I love relaxing Santa Margarita Ligure for Mediterranean views, strolling and hillside ambiance. you will also be able to ferry over to Portofino if you wish easily.

La Mala is a wonderful (yet expensive) pensione in Vernazza, one of the Cinque Terre. We're going there in just a couple of weeks - can't wait!
