We are interested in a Roof Top Bar and/or Restaurant in Florence maybe near the Ponte Vecchio that has a good view. We will be there in September in hopes the crowds are better. Appreciate any suggestions. Thanks, Angela
We went to the tower bar atop the Hotel Torre Guelfa has a stunning view of the city. It is not far from the Ponte Vecchio and is amazing at sunset, you can check out the pictures here: https://www.hoteltorreguelfa.com/en/torre-guelfa-florence/tower-bar/.
Note that you have to climb quite a few stairs until you reach the top. They server only drinks and terrace is small. That said, we went early and positioned ourselves to see the sunset. It is magical.
I looked it up but 75 stairs are too many for our age. Thanks
The ideal venue for what you're describing is the rooftop lounge of Rinascente Department Store - https://www.rinascente.it/en/store-firenze-piazza-della-repubblica.
Sits right above Piazza Repubblica, and offers panoramic views around the city's historic center. Given the referenced mobility concerns, arrival is via the store's Elevator so very easy to navigate.
The Grand Hotel Minerva has a rooftop bar (and small pool). The do evening cocktails and "gourmet BBQ" and non-hotel guests are welcome.
While a bit further away than the others posted, the Westin Excelsior has a nice rooftop lounge that is accessed by elevators. Also positions you to the west of the core so photographically you have the sun to your back while viewing the entire skyline.
I agree with the recommendation for the Westin Excelsior, the views are incredible of the river. Hotel Cavour has a lovely rooftop also accessible via elevator and perhaps just 1 flight of steps to access - it has an incredible view of the Duomo <3
I have reviewed Restaurants in Florence, advisable to make reservations in advance, especially during peak tourist seasons, to secure a spot at your preferred rooftop venue.
There is a rooftop terrace cafe/bar on top of the Museo degli Innocenti.
It has a view of the rooftops and serves light snacks and drinks.
There is an elevator, and the museum itself is well worth a visit.
Not a rooftop, but we were able to talk our way into grabbing a table at this restaurant for some drinks right by Ponte Vecchio. Great location, nice view of the river and the bridge, and looked like a decent restaurant, but we didn't stay to eat.
I really appreciate all the great suggestions. It really helped with research and determining the distance from our hotel. You all are wonderful. Angela
